Abstract:
Effective communication is necessary for organizational growth and efficiency. As systems, it is appropriate to carry out periodic internal communication audit with the view of examining current communication challenges, opportunities and improvements. That was the focus of the study. Christian Service University College has a system of communication that has not been audited for a while. Such a situation present a challenge in that it becomes difficult to detect and address communication needs, interests and concerns. The purpose of the study is to audit the internal communication with focus on information overload and underload to understand how they impact effective internal communication. The study was a quantitative and data was collected from 60 employees across the different levels of employment (Senior Members, Senior Staff and Junior Staff). Among the key finding is that CSUC uses different channels to communicate across the various lines of communication. More so there is a gap as far as communication from management to the lower levels of employment is concerned. The study recommends a proactive system where management decisions that have direct implications for the lower levels are communicated promptly and effectively using the unit/department heads.
