<title>Psychological Determinants of Retirement Preparation Among the Informal Sector Workers in Ghana: A Moderating Effect of Age and Educational Level</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/30628</link>
<description>Psychological Determinants of Retirement Preparation Among the Informal Sector Workers in Ghana: A Moderating Effect of Age and Educational Level
Obeng, Ernest; Kong, Yusheng
Abstract&#13;
The issue of life in old age has become a globally discussed topic because of the changes in the&#13;
world`s population demographics and the challenges such changes have placed on individual households&#13;
as well as governments all over the world. There are several challenges associated with life in old age. At&#13;
this stage of life, the income of the individual usually reduces as a result of his or her withdrawal from&#13;
active work, he or she feels lonely, and in addition, increases in expenditure as a result of deteriorated&#13;
health conditions which will require more financial commitment to manage the health conditions. People&#13;
at this stage of life most times become dependent on their children and family members who may not be&#13;
adequately financially resourced because of their already existing responsibilities. This study aims to&#13;
explore the psychological determinants of retirement preparation among the informal sector workers in&#13;
Ghana. Using a cross-sectional approach, the study collected data from the informal sector workers in the&#13;
Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The region was chosen for the study because it is the&#13;
most populous region in the country with more than 83% of the people in the informal sector. The&#13;
Kumasi metropolis is centrally located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. It is the second largest city in&#13;
Ghana and the administrative capital of the Ashanti Region. This study used a quantitative research&#13;
design, using a well-structured questionnaire to collect data from 550 respondents through purposive and&#13;
convenience sampling techniques, and using structural equation modeling for the data analysis. The study&#13;
revealed a significant positive relationship between future time perspective and retirement preparation.&#13;
The study also revealed a significant positive relationship between attitude towards retirement and&#13;
retirement preparation. However, there was no significant relationship between retirement goal clarity and&#13;
retirement preparation. In testing the moderating role of age, the findings of the study indicated that while&#13;
age significantly moderates the relationship between retirement goal clarity and retirement preparation; it&#13;
does not moderate the effect of future time preparation on retirement preparation. It is recommended that&#13;
government policy on adult education should cover the syllabus on the need for preparing for retirement&#13;
as it will help the workers in the informal sector to take the necessary steps to prepare adequately for&#13;
retirement.&#13;

<title>Environmental Sustainability of Logistics Operations and Its Impact on Supply Chain Sustainability: An Empirical Review</title>

<description>Environmental Sustainability of Logistics Operations and Its Impact on Supply Chain Sustainability: An Empirical Review
Owusu Sarfo, Bismark Kofi; Obeng, Ernest; Collins, Boakye
Abstract&#13;
Recently, logistics and supply chain management have adopted environmental sustainability. Logistics,&#13;
which encompasses transportation, warehousing, and distribution, affects global supply chains and the&#13;
environment. This empirical review investigates logistics' environmental and supply chain sustainability.&#13;
Literature and empirical studies are examined to determine how logistics sector environmental&#13;
sustainability methods affect supply chain sustainability goals. This research examines important literature&#13;
themes, trends, and findings to better comprehend logistics operations' environmental sustainability&#13;
concerns and prospects. This review of logistics operations and supply chain sustainability informs future&#13;
research and logistics environmental performance efforts. Logistics operations must cut carbon emissions,&#13;
minimalize environmental impact, and strengthen supply chain resilience and competitiveness. Logistics&#13;
operations' environmental sustainability and supply chain sustainability were examined in the empirical&#13;
review. Summary of relevant literature, identification of research gaps, evaluation of past study methods,&#13;
and analysis of supply chain resilience and competitiveness were the main goals. The technique included&#13;
choosing relevant research and data sources, gathering and analyzing data, and summarizing significant&#13;
conclusions. The results showed that green transportation, route optimization, and energy-efficient&#13;
warehouse operations may boost logistics sustainability. These sustainability approaches boost supply chain&#13;
sustainability by improving cost-effectiveness and competitiveness. Supply chain partners must collaborate&#13;
to improve environmental sustainability, according to the assessment. The research stressed the significance&#13;
of incorporating environmental sustainability into logistics operations to meet long-term supply chain&#13;
sustainability goals.&#13;

<title>Does Celebrity Endorsement Influence Voters' Choice of a Political Party? Ghanaian Political Marketing Perspective</title>

<description>Does Celebrity Endorsement Influence Voters' Choice of a Political Party? Ghanaian Political Marketing Perspective
Atsu, Nkukpornu; Etse, Nkukpornu; Adom, Kwame
ABSTRACT&#13;
This chapter explores the intricate connection between celebrity endorsement, political engagement and&#13;
voter behaviour in the political marketing landscape of Ghana. This study examines the challenges and&#13;
opportunities associated with celebrity involvement in politics and offers recommendations for&#13;
effectively utilising celebrity status in political contexts. The researchers conducted interviews with&#13;
potential voters in Cape Coast, a city located in the central region of Ghana. The interview findings&#13;
indicate that celebrities’ failure to win elections, both for themselves and for the political parties they&#13;
support, can be attributed to several factors. These include their detachment from grassroots&#13;
communities, limited social impact, inadequate involvement in political party activities, and a mismatch&#13;
between their previous lifestyle and campaign messages. The authors provide recommendations for&#13;
celebrities seeking to achieve successful entry into politics. The recommendations encompass&#13;
participating in grassroots activities, establishing connections with individuals, creating a social impact,&#13;
upholding authenticity and a positive image, and displaying long-term dedication.

<title>Business cycle synchronization and sustainable trade development in Africa: The role of capital mobility</title>

<description>Business cycle synchronization and sustainable trade development in Africa: The role of capital mobility
Abendin, Simon; Naatu, Felicia; Khan, Salim; Etse, Nkukpornu; Yuan, Hongping
Abstract&#13;
The literature has overlooked the significance of business cycle synchronization in sustainable trade&#13;
development, particularly with regard to trade-adjusted carbon emissions. Further, how capital mobility affect&#13;
the nexus between business cycle synchronization and sustainable trade development is an area that is yet to be&#13;
explored. This paper examines the role of capital mobility in the nexus between business cycle synchronization&#13;
and sustainable trade development using the panel corrected standard errors model in 30 African economies for&#13;
the period 2006–2020, thus addressing the gaps in the previous studies. We concluded that: First, the direct&#13;
effects of business cycle synchronization worsen sustainable trade development in Africa. Second, capital&#13;
mobility promotes sustainable trade development in Africa. Third, capital mobility may be a viable instrument&#13;
to mitigating the detrimental effects of synchronized business cycles on the sustainable trade development in&#13;
Africa. Fourth, our research contributes to the extant literature by determining the threshold at which capital&#13;
mobility can affect the association between synchronized business cycles and sustainable trade growth. Fifth,&#13;
our study revealed that business cycle synchronization and capital mobility have a causal relationship with&#13;
sustainable trade development in Africa. The concluding remarks section includes policy implications.
