Ashaiman is a sprawling urban settlement in Ghana and suffer from poor sanitary conditions. Despite various interventions adopted by the Government and civil society organizations to improve the appalling sanitation situation, the problems continuously persist. Current sanitation delivery approaches are not able to integrate the components of health and effective pro-poor community partnerships in any meaningful way. The question to ask is how can communities’ themselves be engaged to improve the sanitation situation in their vicinities? The study however seeks to explore the opportunity of Community Led Sanitation Approach as a viable and sustainable option to improve the sanitation situation in the Ashaiman municipality. The strategy would identify extensive range of significant actors and opportunities mainly civil society organizations, NGOs, informal private service providers in the community and build their capacity as a viable and sustainable option to improve the current sanitation situation.en_US
