Abstract: NOVAS Farms Limited formally known as Green Farms was started on 1st October 2002 with its principal activity in vegetable cultivation in the Kumasi metropolis. In January 2011, Green Farms was changed to NOVAS Farms which ventured into organic farming to produce mushrooms (Domo) because of the perishable nature of vegetables. The company is now focusing on the cultivation of mushrooms due to its scarcity in the dry season.
Description: NOVAS Farms Limited started as a small enterprise in vegetable cultivation with few farm hands on an acre plot of land in Boadi in 2002. It was then called Green Farms. Since the vegetables were perishable goods and the market was unpredictable, Green Farms started to look at ways of diversifying and increasing its operations. In 2011, it sought expert advice from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), Ghana. It was from this time that Green Farms considered the cultivation of mushrooms.
