| Abstract: | Intermid Microfinance is a private, mission-driven company which intends having operating subsidiaries in Ghana that provide microcredit to entrepreneurs. Intermid intends providing lending and savings services to people in Ghana considered "unbankable" by formal financial institutions. By operating a profitable private-equity funded business in the Ghanaian microfinance market—where most competitors have significant presence— the company seeks to revolutionize and to grow Ghana’s microfinance industry. The company will uphold a dual mission of providing affordable capital to unbankable individuals while operating an efficient, profitable business. |
| Description: | Intermid Microfinance is a Ghanaian company registered and located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The company was founded primarily to be a Micro Financial Institution—making loans in small amounts widely available to people in the middle and lower class, and entrepreneurs of similar category. This growing industry is known as "microfinance." The necessary capital to operate Intermid will be raised through private equity and debt from individual and institutional investors in the developed world. With GH¢100,000 in new equity, the company will be able to support expansion efforts and leverage at least this amount in debt financing. |
